Brandy came to live with us in 1994. She was a gift to my daughter for H.S. graduation from my daughter's friends who brought her from the SPCA because they knew my daughter missed her dog that she grew up with.
From her first entry into our house, she entered not only the residence, but also our hearts. She was a beautiful dog that was almost one year old when she became part of our lives and hearts. She was found rumaging through garbage badly beaten. Because of the beating, in the years to come down the road, 7 to be exact, Brandy would begin her series of seizures. The vet put her on phenobarbital but it zoned her out and we decided that the quality of life was better than the quantity. And that is one decision we made correctly.

y became "my dog" shortly after her initial entry into our homes and hearts, as my daughter left her behind when she moved to Florida. Brandy was a quick learner and a great companion. She was always happy to see me each evening when I turned the knob to the door and met me, tail wagging and her head slight cocked to the right, smiling up at me saying: "Hi, how was your day? I am soooo glad to see you. Let's play tug of war."
During the years, Brandy and I made many trips, but today's trip was by far the hardest and longest. All the way to the vet's I cried and she just stared up at me, almost like saying.. "it will be ok". She was still a beautiful girl at almost 15 and the love she had for me knew no bounds... and it was likewise returned. Today, Brandy & I took our last trip, it was now my turn to say: "Hey, I love you.. it's OK, rest without pain." She died in my arms at 1:10 p.m. I cried the entire drive home, but before she breathed her last breath, I whispered.. "You go girl, go to the place where there is no pain and wait for me. I will be coming later and we will once again walk the fields of color and scare up some pheasants or sit on the bank and watch the loons at play."
Ms. Brandy will be missed but never forgotten for she lives on in my heart.
