Bud

General Beauregard

"Bud"

General Beauregard may have been his AKC name; but to everyone in the Norris family; he was known as "Bud".  Actually, Angie was the one that named him.  He was also called Boudreau.  Johnnie and Eric went and picked him out at a breeder in Fuquay-Varina; and brought him home at the tender age of 5 weeks old.

When we first brought him home, our backyard wasn't fenced in; so we bought him a 12 x 12 dog pen.  It was summer and it was hot; so Johnnie took a 5 gallon bucket and cut it in half to put fresh water in his dog pen.  We would come home from work and find that the water bucket was filthy dirty......just black dirty water.  We couldn't figure out how Bud was getting the water so dirty everyday.....until one day Johnnie came home early and walked out on the deck and found Bud SITTING in the water bucket!! Right then and there........we knew he was a TRUE labrador retriever and a water lover!  That was one of our first funny memories of him.

Bud was a great dog.  He was so docile and good natured.  He never fought with any of our other dogs.  If he was drinking at the water bowl, and they wanted water, he would just step back and let them drink.  Bud loved going with us to the beach and he loved swimming.  On one particular beach trip, on a picnic with some of our neighbors, we caught Bud "sneaking" or should I say "stealing" the hot dog buns!! One at the time!

There are too many memories to list them all here; but we wish that you would sign the tribute page or the candles page and tell us what you most remember about Bud.  To us, he was the BEST DOG IN THE WORLD and we miss him terribly.  He lived a good long life to the age of 12 years old.  And he brought us much joy, love, and companionship during those 12 years.  There will NEVER be another BUD!!  We love you and miss you so much BUD!  We will see you again soon on the rainbow bridge as we walk across it together into heaven!

My Bud,
Thank you for being with me. I truly belive God sent you for a reason. And that reason was to teach me the true meaning of love. When you got home to God I know you heard him say "Job well done." I miss you Bud, and always will, I will never be the same. I truly hope you were happy with the home and the love we gave you. I know the pain and troubles you went through and how tough you were. Now you can rest in Gods hands. It will be a time before I get to rub you head again, but I know God has his hand on you now. You were more than I could have ever hope for. I miss you so much. But I'm so glad I had your head to rub. I will always miss you and wish I could tell you one more time how much I love you. I know you are waiting for us to be together again. And when we get to see each other I promise I will rub your head and tell you "I Love You Bud." And if it was possible I would bring a big Oreo cookie for you. Angie, Belle, Jack, and Duke miss you to. I know they all love you. Thank you for all the love and compassion you gave me. You truly are one of God's Angels. Until we meet again, I Love You Bud. You will always be in my mind and in my heart.

When I think of Bud, I think of Oreo cookies (or any kind of cookie for that matter---he loved oatmeal cookies too); Brightleaf hot dogs; laying in the kitchen waiting for food; or better yet--going to the back door and standing like he had to go outside and getting Johnnie up off the couch--only to head towards the kitchen and try to get Johnnie to give him a treat! He was sneaky that way. If Bud didn't want to go outside, he would just "plop down" on the floor; or he would run and hide behind the couch or behind anyone else who was in the room. Bud hated to get his ears cleaned; and when I would get the cotton balls and the bottle of cleaner out, he would RUN! He got under the bed and hid one time; just to avoid getting his ears cleaned. Lots of memories......I miss you terribly. You were the best back snuggler. No one will ever take your place on the bed. I love you Bud!

when i think of you i cry, and when i look at your pictures the tears just roll down.- One time someone ask me if i had a picture of my girlfreind, and when i looked in my wallet i had a piture of Bud, it was so funny. It was you who was there for me when i needed someone to talk to, it was you who always listen to all the problems i had at the time, and it was you, who just laid your head on me to let me know everything would be allright. Even though you never spoke a bad word, that was the best medicine anyone could have gave . And know that your body is free of pain and sickness, i know that you miss everyone here just as much as they miss you. i know you are having fun running and jumpping through the feilds and swimming in the creeks. BUD, if you knew how many tears have been shed for you, i know you would dive in them and swim home to us. But for know, until we play again i keep you ever so close to me and my heart. Bud ,when you left us , you gave everyone more then they would ever think of, you gave us Love, compainionship, and a great social story topic for everone to talk about, we will not let you go unforgotten. You were my buddy, my pal my freind. Thank you so much for being a part of my life. See you soon.

I had never seen a dog with so much personality...until I first met Bud. I can remember once that Eric wanted to show me "something kinda funny", and he got up and simply asked, "Want a cookie Bud? Let's get a cookie!! Bud Let's go get a cookie"...you could literally see Bud's mouth start to water, and he'd stay right there until he was in fact given that cookie.
I wasn't around much, but you could tell that even if it had been some time since you'd last seen him, he remembered seeing you. He was always happy, tail wagging, and those big eyes were always welcoming.
I felt terrible when I heard that he had passed on, and I too will miss him very much.
To Johnnie, Angie, Eric, and the rest of his family, there are no words that can take away the pain of such a loss, but just know that the seperation is temporary, and take comfort in knowing that he will be waiting for you all in heaven.

Old Man,
I miss you soo much, the way you always wanted me to rub you or just to keep my hand on you. The joy and love that you gave everybody is more than you ever knew. You are missed and you can never be replaced. May God give You a cool place to rest and a soft place to lay your head.

I am so sorry for your lost. I lost my cat of 12 years on August 23,2007.

Pets are such a wonderful part of our lives, they accept us as we are and show love a devotion to the end. I know one day we will be reunited with them in heaven. Rest now my love ones till we meet again
