When I think of Bud, many things come to my mind. Bud was the best back snuggler, especially while Johnnie was gone to Kuwait, or when me and all four of the dogs would "pile up in the bed" on Sunday afternoon and take a nap.
If I was in the kitchen, that's where Bud was. He would lay right in the middle of the floor and watch me cook (or fix his food). He would stand and look at the refrigerator or the pantry door waiting for either me or Johnnie to give him a snack. If there were Oreos in the pantry, that's where he would stand. If there were Brightleaf hot dogs in the refrigerator, that's where he would stand.
When Johnnie and I would leave the house, Bud always had "house privileges"----he got to stay inside. And when we would pull into the driveway, he would either be looking out the front door for us or looking out the picture window in the dining room looking for us. That is one of the things that I miss the most----is coming home and not seeing Bud waiting for us.
Bud always wanted his head rubbed and he would figure out a way to "make" you do it---by laying his head on your knee or by "nudging" his head under your arm.
One of my favorite memories of Bud is drying him off with a beach towel after it had rained. He LOVED to be rubbed with the beach towel. He would make this "groaning" noise and then he would try and play with the beach towel and get you to play "tug" with him.
I will miss him dearly. He was a great companion to me during those months when Johnnie was gone to Kuwait and I always felt "safe" with Bud in the bed with me.
I LOVE YOU BUD!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

My Bud,Thank you for being with me. I truly belive God sent you for a reason. And that reason was to teach me the true meaning of love. When you got home to God I know you heard him say "Job well done." I miss you Bud, and always will, I will never be the same. I truly hope you were happy with the home and the love we gave you. I know the pain and troubles you went through and how tough you were. Now you can rest in Gods hands. It will be a time before I get to rub you head again, but I know God has his hand on you now. You were more than I could have ever hope for. I miss you so much. But I'm so glad I had your head to rub. I will always miss you and wish I could tell you one more time how much I love you. I know you are waiting for us to be together again. And when we get to see each other I promise I will rub your head and tell you "I Love You Bud." And if it was possible I would bring a big Oreo cookie for you. Angie, Belle, Jack, and Duke miss you to. I know they all love you. Thank you for all the love and compassion you gave me. You truly are one of God's Angels. Until we meet again, I Love You Bud. You will always be in my mind and in my heart.
Johnnie
