Callaway came to us as a puppy - someone giving away an "accidental" batch of Puppies (the rottweiller apparently got into the Shiba Inu's house and 12 puppies were the result). From the beginning he was playful and had a pleasant disposition. He chewed everything - plants, shoes, toys, rugs. When he finally settled down, he was Brianne's big baby - he slept on her bed, and waited outside her door when she was out.
In 2002, we obtained his playmate -- Maddie, a female puppy who was just a pain in Callaway's side! Maddie followed Callie everythwere - and Callie became her guardian and playmate. They were inseparable.
When Callie became ill in 2007, we never realized it would be so serious. He was diagnosed with cancer and we were told he had two weeks. We took him home and expected the worst. But he seemed to regain his strength, played with the other dogs and seemed to be getting back to normal. His las illness hit him quickly, with the cancer spreading to his liver. As discussed, we would not subject Callaway to any more surgeries. The decision was made to let him move on to that "rainbow bridge", where he will wait for each one of us.
Callie we miss you - Brianne and Pancho miss you the most. We often speak of you and Maddie and Sadie wish you were here. The are getting along fine, but they do miss your playfulness.
