Candy Cane

The moment we were blessed to meet Candy Cane is a moment none of us will forget.  The wonderful sweet little dog coming up to us...so scared but still wagging her tail.  And to see the heart shape in her fur on the side was so fitting for a dog with such a big wonderful heart.

Her name Candy...fit this dog to a T!!!  She would find candy anywhere no matter what she had to do to get it!  In your purse, in the cuboards and even...under the Christmas Tree!  She loved her Candy....even after eating a whole bag of it one time.

She loved the kids so much!!!  When Tyler was just a newborn...Candy Cane would lay outside his playpen when he was staying with us...and just lay there and not take her eyes off him.  The moment he woke up she would stand in one spot and just run circles for us to go get him out.  She would then jump up on the couch beside you and just smell the baby's head.  She loved all animals...even when our cats had kittens...she tried to love on them (though our cat was not too keen on that).

Jumping over 6 foot tall wooden fences...not a problem for this girl.  She would sail over them and take a walk around the neighborhood that is until we caught her.  She never ran from us when we would find out she jumped...always run to us with plenty of kisses to give.

October 22, 2006 Candy let me know in her own way that it was time for her to go.  I felt it in my heart and could see it in her eyes that she was tired and ready to go.  Taking her to the vet with such a heavy heart and so much pain...she licked my hand the whole way there as if to tell me it was okay.  When the vet finally told me I was doing the right thing.  I went in the room to hold Candy in my arms.  I told her that she did a great job taking care of our family...and now she had to go be with grandpa (my dad).  She looked at me and gave me one last kiss and laid her head in my arms again.  She went so peacefully...no pain not a whimper...nothing.  She went to see my dad in my arms.  And for that...I am truly grateful.  I will never forget this great dog....no one in our family...or anyone that met her will ever forget Candy Cane.  We loved her and will forever miss her.

Miss you Candy Cane...give grandpa a sloppy kiss for me!
