They were my perfect loves. They talk about the "perfect storm", well these two were my "perfect loves." Everything that makes life and love perfect came together at the same time and made for a special 18 years of pure love................

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Dear Helen,  your tributes to Chancey and Digby were indescribably beautiful, the love that was portrayed in every word made me feel like I knew those precious little souls, and indeed, now I do.  You were a perfect little family, and one day, your family will be intact again, just as wonderful, if not more so, than what you have already known.  Your beloved little girl, and your beloved little boy are basking in the sun, and painting rainbows at the bridge.  They smile remembering the perfect love and the perfect life that you created for them....they smile with the faith and certainty that you will be a family again.   May you and your husband find comfort in knowing that you gave those fur babies heaven on earth.  Love, Jan, Nike's Mom

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

When we lived in Portland they were there with us.  They were both born there and we became a family there. When we think of the coast we think of them out on the beaches walking in the waves and falling into the tide pools. We see them chasing the seagulls and digging for the sand crabs that came in on each tide. We see them out in their yard patrolling and keeping the cats, opossums and raccoons out of the yard.  They cleaned the yard up of pine cones and brought them in the house where they thought they were good dcor. We worried about Chancey on IVs for 4 days after she ate Advil. We were so sorry that Digbys first haircut was so horrendous, he came home nicked and bleeding!!! We remember all of Chanceys 8 years there and Digbys 5 years there and all that we did that was just ordinary but so very important in our lives.  We see them as we were packing up to move to Denver and how excited they were to help pack their belongings up.  Where are they now?

When we lived in Denver they were there with us. They didnt mind being over 6,000 ft up!  They were there our first winter when we had the huge snowstorm that shut the city down.  We had over 5 ft of snow in our backyard and they were there to walk in the paths we shoveled for them.  They were there to help us weed and landscape our very large yard.  They loved to go up to the top of the yard and look down on us at the house.  They were there for the many walks around our neighborhood and around the school, they were just glad they didnt have to go to school.  They were there when we packed to move to LaConner, WA.  They were there as my husband drove to Washington without me. I was in Europe so they were without me on this move.  They werent sure what to make of it but being the troopers that they were they said okay lets go!  Where are they now?

When we lived in LaConner they were there with us.  They werent sure where I was but when I showed up two weeks later I got my one and only kiss from Chancey!!!  They were there as the house got set up without me and they were a great help to my husband.  Chancey being the supervisor that she was helped him put the beds together, what a story that is!  They had many places to discover up there and we had many parks and great walks to go on.  They loved living up there and it was our very special place of all.  We had the best of everything; the beach, the river, the mountains and best of all our home.

They were there when the blue heron landed on our deck and scared us because he was so close and so very big. They were there when the power went out, which was quite often, and we would snuggle together to stay warm and cozy.  They were there when we had to leave our home and move once again.  Where are they now?

Now we are in Eastern Oregon again and they were with us.  This is the part that I dont like.  We didnt want to be here.  They didnt have their sunshine in the house and it was way too hot to be outside in the sunshine.  They were with us for such a short time here and they are gone now, they are not here with us anymore.  They are gone.  They were our history. Where are they now?

Where are they now I need them still, I miss them still.

My two sweet little ones, I look at your puppy pictures and I simply cannot believe that you are not with me still.  I look at you and I find I cannot breathe.  How can 18 years have gone by so quickly? 

So many wonderful days and years we had.  So many memories we made together.  Our family and our life was simply the best, the very best. I want you to know how you completed our family. You gave us a very fun filled and enjoyable life with you.

What you gave to us we do not take lightly and we will forever be grateful for all of the memories.  I just wish we could make more memories together. 

We love you two sweethearts and will miss you always.  Your forever Mom.

Chancey and Digby, for your daddy's birthday this year we decided to go to Portland and then on the the coast.  You loved both places so much.  We drove by Waterfront Park in Portland and that was "your" park, wasn't it Chancey?  You thought of it as yours any way.  I could see you walking along and expecting everyone to look at you and your curly tail!  They loved you and would stop to talk to you and you adored every minute of it.  Digby never got to go there so it was your very own special place. 

We went on to Lincoln City and walked the beach, the tide was in and we could see the two of you out at the edge of the waves as they came in - waiting for them and then running so the water didn't get you.  Remember how you would wake up just as we got there and smell the fresh ocean air?  You would get so excited and coudn't wait to get there...

We had to do all of that alone without you this time.  How do I tell you how hard that was and how lonely we were that you weren't there.  You loved the beach so much, I don't know if I can go back there again.

We drove by Champoeg State Park, the one we went to at Christmas each year.  It was the park you called Shampoo the Pig Park because you coudn't say Chamgoeg....  We decided not to go there again either. 

You were there with us through so much and with us in so many places that it is hard to find a place to go without memories of you being there with us. You may not have been there with us physically but your personalities were definitely there.  You are still so alive for us, I just wish we could hold you again.
