Cinder

(7/31/2009) Dear Cinder, its been a year since you crossed over the Rainbow Bridge and I still get a big lump in my throat when I read all the wonderful things people wrote about you. Thank goodness time does heal all wounds so I can continue on as you would have wanted. I brought Annabelle into my life shortly after you left. Hank thinks you went to heaven and came back with a new body and a new name! I think he's right! While you are no longer here with us your spirit and love helped me decide to train Annabelle to relate to and give to others the same way you gave so much to my life. Say, "Hey" to Bruno. Holly misses him very much. Love, Mom Burns

On December 24, 1996 a ball of fur came into my life carried in a bird pet carrier. She wasn't bigger than a handful. That Christmas Eve we all put names intoa hat and Georgie's "Cinder" was chosen.

Mellie, my aging Labrador Retriever, acceptedlittle Cinderand started mothering her immediately. Cinder loved Mellie so much -- she followed her everywhere. On that first day she tripped on Mellie's heels and fell into the swimming pool that was only 38 degrees. As I reached tograb her out, Melliealso jumped to get her out. At that momentmy little AKC Registered miniture poodle becamethe first Labradoodle at heart, albeit, she really didn't like to swim after that. Whenever I tried to swim with her Mellie wouldrush to her and push her out of the pool -- an amazingly protective act given how muchMellie loved her daily swoopy-doops.

Mellie lived on for a year with Cinder raising her to be a perfect Labrador. When Mellie left this world Cinder took over the job of running the household. A job she managed perfectly for almost twelve years.

Cinder, you will always bein my heart.

Dear Cinder! So many tickles behind your ears! And I bet you're still saying, "Oh, please don't stop!" You must be wondering what all the fuss is about. You had so many friends that loved and miss you. Their comforting words in your memory are deeply appreciated.

Cinder, tell all of your doggy friends (especially Mellie, Kishi, Karma, Connor, Buster and Bo) that their earthly people are well. We all miss each of youso much andour hearts still ache every day; but weare comforted knowing whatfantastic lives youhad while with us -- the extreme definition of "a dogs' life."

Love, Mom Burns

Thank you, Beth, for this touching memorial to my beloved Cinder: my companion, my heating pad, my best friend. The memory of her unconditional love will never be diminished by time. All the kind, loving words written by my friends and family have comforted me more than I could ever have imagined.

My last memory of Cinder is warm and loving. It was at the airport on Sunday when I held her long snout in my right hand, wrapped my left hand behind her earsand kissed her on her wet nose. I told her I loved her and smiled big -- she couldn't hear a thing.

My grief is immeasurable right now. The tears won't stop and it feels like I have a permanent lump in my throat. Tomorrow will be brighter. I will never forgetthe fantastic bond and companionship Cinder and I shared. She will forever bethe brightest star in the sky.

People say I did pretty good with you Beth;I think so too.I'm proud of you every dayof my life.

    Love, Mom

    "In the Candle's Glow"

Warm light coming from far below,
Twinkling, sparkling is the candle's glow.
All is well up on the ridge,
The place we know as Rainbow Bridge.

    Furbabies sleeping in heaven's light,
Tended by candles in the night.
Peaceful dreams be theirs to keep,
As they slumber in this night so deep.

Hearts on earth that miss them so,
Take comfort in the candle's glow.
Watching for them in skies above,
Bound eternally by a cord of love.

Stuart and I will really miss Cinder, especially seeing Marsele trot down the hall carrying her. She was such a love, and so adored Marsele. It was certainly mutual. Stu will still run down to your door to look for her.

Cinder was such a dear dog and your committed companion. I always enjoyed your visits to the cabin, I can see her wrapped around your shoulders as you sat knitting on the sofa. We will miss her.
Much love to you in this time of loss.

Marsele,

I had heard the new this morning. I am so sorry for your lost. Cinder was a wonderful dog. She had loved you so much. I loved seeing her at Holly's when we go over and she is there. I know she is now up there with Buster and Manhatten. She will never be forgotten and will always be your princess.

We can't believe she's gone but we feel a great deal of joy knowing she had the best life and the best mom in the world. Bo thought she was cute, Jake thought she was a furry chew toy and we knew she was a princess.

M - you're in our prayers.

My friend, Marsele, the sorrow I know you have deep in your heart is impossible to deal with and it seems you see your precious Cinder everywhere you look. I truely believe her spirit is with you Marsele to try and comfort you. The love and bond you had for each other is hard for many to understand and to lose that is devastating. I feel the loss as well my friend for both you and Cinder. We're always here for you know matter what, always remember that. Love Mike and Georgie Hart

Our pets hold a very special place in our hearts and leave a terrible void in their passing. I think the unconditional love they give as our companions is rarely matched in human relationships. It is a special gift to have shared that bond with a pet. It is sad that in most cases their lives are so much shorter than ours, but it is also satisfying to think back on the good homes we have been able to provide for so many pets.

I had the joy and pleasure of knowing Cinder for only a very short time. She was a delight each time I saw her little face. She was the light of her mommy's life. This site is a beautiful tribute to Cinder and a lovely gift to Marsele from her daughter. Marsele, lots of people out here love you and will miss the little Princess whenever we visit.

I remember the day we picked up Cinder as a puppy...she fit in Dennis shirt pocket she was so little. And her sister Puffer had her nose so out of joint...it was a hoot. I was so upset to hear of her passing. Please know you will have wonderful memories and pictures to remind you of your terrific companion.

We love you Marsele!

Oh, Cinder. Thank you for the love you gave to my dear friend Marsele. I will remember you as the little dog in the bag, but you proved to me each time I met you that size does not matter when it comes to the heart. And you were bursting with heart, as I'm sure you are now.

Give my love to Connor, Cassie, Fudge, Boots, Chester and Becky for me. Tell them to be patient and that I will be looking for them when my time comes. Introduce yourself to my Aunt Margaret - she likes feeding dogs under the table. Remember to visit Marsele in her dreams. And now, run and play to your hear't content. You'll never get tired from now on.
