Coco Lin

Coco!  You came into my life in late February 1997.  I remember Mom found an ad for you in the Washington Post for a husky-shepherd mix one evening.  After losing Cora, my first dog, I was hoping to get another mix like her.  Well, Mom and I got into the car and drove out to Burke, VA.  I remember the lady of the house came out with you in one hand and  your sibling on the other.  It was dark and raining.  You looked more like a german shep than your sister, so I decided to take you.  Mom couldn't be convinced by me to take you sister for her and Dad to take care of.  She said I could share you with them.

And that's what I did.  You became a family dog.  To Mom and Dad and to all my siblings and their kids.  I remember you were so good to the kids, and became a frequent overnight guest and weekend visitor at Mom and Dad's house.  You were always there at family get togethers.  I think you enjoyed Christmas the best, for there were always treats to be had.

You also became a great friend and companion for me.  I found it so relaxing and at peace with the world just from walking you around the block and taking care of you.  Weekends were filled with trips to parks and to Petco and Petsmart for treats and pedicures.

Do you remember when you were young?  You loved to play at the Government Center with all those dogs in the evening.  Chasing each other was what you loved to do.  You and Holly ran took turns running each other down.  One owner called you "Jerry Rice" for your speed and your ability to turn corners so quickly.

Back here in the neighborhood, the dogs that know you enjoyed seeing you out on walks.  Petey, Cooper, and Ravi were always wagging their tails when ever they saw you.  Especially Ravi!

Coco-I miss you already!  I hope you didn't suffer too much pain these last few months.  I know the kidney disease was bothering and you and I didn't know about the cancer until the very end.  You were so brave-I will cherish you forever.  I hope I can be reunited with you some day.

I love you always!

Feeling less sad, Coco. But I still miss you tremendously. I hope you are happy in Dog Heaven.

I remember when I came over your house to play poker and you reminded me of my dog - barked at the door but were the friendliest dog once you were in the house. You were a great dog, Coco. We will miss you!

We miss you Coco and hope you are at peace. Lindsey told her teachers and friends that her dog's name was Coco so you were our much beloved family dog. You were so gentle and tolerant of the little kids that we never worried. You were always a welcome guest. The kids were sad to hear the news and kept asking "Why?" We'll always remember you fondly.

My angel, Coco. It has been one month since we said our goodbyes. God bless you and I am so blessed to have you in my life. Watch over me from above.

Always in my heart,
