Emilee
Emilee was eleven years old. She had terminal cancer of the mammary glands when we got her from Safe Haven to foster her.I had never cared for a Hospice cat before and did not know what to expect.
Until two days before she died, there was nothing that evidenced she was sick. She ate very well and loved Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys because she could eat them easier since she had several teeth missing. The first night she came to us she slept with me and every night since until two nights before she died. She would play with her toys and loved to sleep by the window on her kitty bunk bed. She also loved to sleep on the bed in the guest room (HER room). It had a green bedspread that matched her beautiful green eyes. And when she encountered the other cats in the house she let them know in no uncertain terms that she was the matriarch and walked around with her beautiful bushy tail high in the air. They respected Emilee.
We found out today that the cancer had spread to her lungs and that this is why she was having such labored breathing. They advised it was time to let her go. I held her while they administered the drugs to her and whispered in her ear how much we loved her and her beautiful green eyes and that we were so fortunate to have her for the time that she shared her life with us.
We brought her home with us, Joe, Madii and me, to bury her. Joe dug her grave with tears streasming down his face. I wrapped her in her favorite blanket that she slept on, gently placed her in a box and carried her outside to Joe. Madii made a monument for her out of cement, pebbles, fancy stones and some medallions. She wrote on the stone: EMILEE-YOU LEFT PAW PRINTS ON OUR SOULS. Madii and I made a cross with an "E" on it for the head of her grave. I placed moss around her grave and Joe left and came back with a solar light and placed it at the foot of her grave.
Goodbye Emilee. We are grateful for the time we had with you and we could not have loved you more had we known you for your entire eleven years on this earth.
Rest in Peace beautiful girl and we will see you again someday.
