Ginger Snap

Our beloved Shetland Sheepdog, Ginger Snap, joined our home in 1996.....she was the niece of our precious Mindy, a lovely Shetland Sheepdog, that was so lovely.  Ginger Snap was very loyal to her family, and was a precious and very touching nanny to Katie and Lacey, two cairn terriers that adored her.  They have been looking for her everywhere.  Ginger Snap always followed her Mommy on trash day, assisting with the trash cans.  She also had a very fierce bark to ward off strangers and other dogs in her territory.  She loved to play and when she was younger, she loved to turn over frogs in the yard, when we lived in the lower 48.  She could be very stubborn, and got into trouble eating her Mommy's shoes, flowers, Christmas Tree decorations, and moving things around the house.  She loved to eat shoes, and would eat anyone's, should they have the misfortune to leave them on the front stairway area.  She would lay on the second stair always looking outside, and could be found there most often.  She slept next to Daddy on her bed, and also loved laying next to him in the den, next to his recliner.  Food was always something she wanted and would enjoy.  I used to call her an Italian Sheltie, as she would eat anything.....she had room for any food.....anytime!  She was a very avid walker, and runner, and loved to forge ahead in the snow, behind our home in Anchorage......dashing through trees and bushes......just adorable.  The last two years of her life were very difficult, as once Mindy left for the Rainbow Bridge, Ginger was lonely and actually cried for several months.  In her last few days, strokes and the inability to enjoy food were burdens for her.

We will always remember Ginger Snap as a lover of all people, visitors, and dogs.  Her love of life was so apparent and an example for all.  Her joyous barking when we would return home is missed.....as we love our dear girl.......

Dear Rebecca, This candle is for your beautiful girl Ginger Snap. I was never lucky enough to know her but when i was a teenager i did compete in obedience trials. When a Shetland Sheepdog was in the ring it was over, we lost. They have the highest degree of intelligence and they love to entertain. They are extremely loyal to family and when a Shetland Sheepdog is in the obedience ring nothing in the world exist but that family member. So i know you and your family have suffered a great loss.In your time of need you were so kind to comfort us with our loss of Caliya. We thank you so much! With Love, Caliya's Mom Denise Keaveny
