Helga

I first met Helga in January of 2008. She had just been brought into the MSPCA-Western New England Animal Care and Adoption Center after 4 months of being homeless. She had previously been found tied to a fence outside an animal control facility. I had just begun volunteering at the MSPCA and immediately fell in love with her. Another 4 months went by and still she remained homeless, but very much loved by the staff and volunteers. I decided that she was waiting for me so we made the adoption official! She was such a wonderful addition to the family and she became best friends with my other dog, Sadie. Sadly, 6 months later Helga was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer. Not wanting to sacrifice quality for quantity, I opted to treat her with homeopathy and a healthy nutrition full of immune boosting agents. She also received monthly infusions to help keep her bones strong. She never had a sick day. For awhile all seemed to be going well and she lived long past the time the vets had given her, all the while still running and playing. But the tumor began to grow rapidly in her leg and her pain increased and the decision was made to let her go peacefully about 7 months following her diagnosis. I miss her each and every moment.

I have been so honored to be a part of this great dogs life. I give thanks to God for sharing her with us for this precious time. He must be missing her as much as we are and called her home. I love you Starbaby, see you soon.

Sweet Helgie, you were the first Pit bull. that I ever truly loved. I'm not sure the world will ever see another one like you - thank you being patient while we searched for your new home. I think you would agree, finding your mom was well worth the wait! We will all miss you. Love you always.

Helga, You came into our home and our hearts for a brief time while you were here. You will be missed and remembered always baby girl. Your spirit is unbelievable. You are an example of why they say a dog is man's best friend.
Love you Helga.

Helga was very special to me, as a volunteer I enjoyed taking her to the park and she touched me unlike any other dog I've ever met at a shelter. Brittany thank you so much for giving her a wonderful home.

i can honestly say that helga was one of my favorite dogs to ever come through the shelter during my time there. even after being there for months, her spirit never wavered and her good mood never waned. i remember finding out that you had adopted her and literally crying with joy. knowing how much joy you brought her brings ME more joy than you could know.

Helga has brought love and happiness to a family enriched with the same capacity for love, courage, and loyalty. Her departure came amidst the highest point of admiration and with loving compassion that will endure always.

Helga was so wonderful. I remembered her love of running after the tennis ball - I think I tired way ahead of her ! She was definitely one of my favorites during her stay at MSPCA. It was wonderful for her to have found a home with you Brittany - I am sure she enjoyed every minute, and I hope all those minutes make you smile as you remember them.

Dear Brittany,
I am very sorry that your time with Helga was so short. Helga was a lucky girl to have a loving home at last. She's beautiful. She looks very much like my baby girl Caliya who is also here at immortal pets. These bully babies are so prone to cancer.Helga had her angel on earth when you gave her a chance. What a wonderful person you are to welcome her into your home.Sorry for your loss.

Starbaby or Helga was a great dog, that is all there is to it. Evey time i saw her her, she bulldozed toward me offering her unconditional love and trust and many kisses as well. The Taylor household will never seem quite normal without her. Even though i only knew her for a short time, she touched my heart.

God Bless you Helga, how wonderful for you to have found true love and a caring family to see you through your last days. How lucky for them that you will be waiting at Rainbow's Bridge when it is their turn. Until then, Angel Dog watch over them and run free in Rainbow Bridge and no chasing my cat Bam Bam or any of my other babies who went before him. No, you dont look like you would do that anyway - Dear Sweet Dog. I am glad you and your family found eachother, even if only for a very short time. Bless you all. Jen & Heath

Helga was the most beautiful spirited dog I ever met. I know I am a little late for lighting a candle but sadly I just learned of her passing. I wish I could have seen her one more time, thrown her ball for her one more time put my arms around her neck and hugged her one more time. Helga you are in heaven and I WILL see you again some day my friend...
Brittany you are amazing and Helga was the luckiest girl to have met you. With a heavy heart I say Goddbye..

Dear Helga, I can't believe it's been a year already. I hope you have made many friends at the Rainbow Bridge. Today I will be going to the same park where I used to take you. I will be with another dog, but I will be thinking of you and how you always made me smile.

This must be why I am derpessed today. I truely believe Brittany was supposed to pop up in Helga's life so that she could have it end the way it did, without pain and with more love than she knew what to do with. Even though our time was short, she left a huge impact on me and I will always remember her. Love you Brit.
