Lily Vagnini

Lily was the baby girl of Al Vagnini and Jennifer Wilhelm. She was the most perfect girl anyone could ever ask for. You only had to meet her once to know how special she was. It was Sunday, May 8th, 2003 and while having breakfast at a restaurant, we spotted an ad for a mobile adoption being held by the North Shore Animal League at the Mountview Shopping Plaza in Naugatuck. Although we had no intention to adopt a puppy, I thought there would be no harm in "just looking". Boy was I in for a surprise! When we arrived, there was a short line... while waiting, we spotted her before we even stepped into the adoption vehicle and it was love at first sight! In fact, the family right in front of us had Lily taken out of her crate and was holding her. I was secretly praying that they would not take her as there was no other puppies that captivated me like that little girl. God must have heard my prayers because for some unknown reason, they handed her back to the attendant. I was watching this unfold and before she could put her back in her crate, I asked if I could please hold her. She never went back in that crate. From that first day we brought her home, we instantly changed our lives and centered our home around our new little baby girl. Over the past almost seven years, she has brought us so much joy, love, laughter and happiness that words can't even begin to explain. She lost her incredibly courageous battle to auto-immune disease but never complained and always tried to please to the very end. Words cannot explain how much she is missed and how heartbroken we are by her loss. She was a dog to most people but to those who loved her, she was our little baby girl and she will live forever in our hearts. To my sweet love Lily. I miss you so much. I know Heaven is brighter now that you're there. Love Daddy.

To say Lily was a sweet dog would not do her the justice she deserves. With multiple ailments and physical challenges, Lily persevered not only without crying and fussing, but with warmth and love.

One glance from her and you fell in love. She was truly an amazing soul and a messenger of joy.

She'll be remembered and missed forever.
