We adopted Lucy from the pound in November 1999 when she was 18 months old as a sister for our other dog Abby.
Lucy was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in mid 2006. She had to take many medications and use a nebuliser two or three times a day but she was a wonderful patient and never complained. Sadly on 9th July 2007 Lucy lost her battle with heart disease and passed away. We are comforted by the fact that even up until the night before she was still active and eating well and never went through a period where she was unable to get around and enjoy her life. She loved to have cuddles and was very affectionate.
When you are unable to have children pets become extra special which is exactly what Lucy was to us. We will treasure the 7-1/2 years we had with her and although we miss her very much she will be remembered in our hearts forever.
Saturday 12th April 2008 - It has only been nine month's since Lucy's passing and today our other beautiful girl Abby died suddenly at the age of 13. She had a chest infection for a couple of days and was on antibiotics and we thought she was getting better but on Saturday she started having trouble breathing. We rushed her to the Vet but unfortunately they couldn't do anything for her. Abby had a thyroid condition for the past year and apparently that can weaken the heart and consequently she suffered a heart attack and couldn't be revived.
Abby came into our lives as a puppy in 1995 and gave us thirteen years of unconditional love and affection.
To have both our girls go in the space of nine months is devastating and we are left with a huge gap in our lives. We will never forget our wonderful girls and the joy they brought to our lives.
