Lucy

Lucy was living at the Bay Plaza Petland store. Sandy saw her little blonde crest and reddish brown fur and said she was the cutest guinea pig she ever saw and wanted to take her home. This picture was taken the day after we brought her home, and she's probably about 4 months old. She lived on City Island with her sister Coco. Lucy lived an exciting guinea pig life full of pellets, hay, blueberries, running around, weeching for carrots, chewing boxes, tunneling under covers, and watching HBO. A few days ago she stopped eating and drinking and we discovered she had a kidney ailment - though we fed her water and baby food by hand, she was very sick and even with a vet's care she died this past Friday. Coco misses her very much and so do we.-------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is Tuesday February 8, 2011 and Coco died last night. She died peacefully and in little pain, from an ailment she was diagnosed with two years ago. She was cheerful to the end. Even though it was a shock - Coco lived a couple of years longer than we expected. At six years old she was a Guinea Pig who lived a long life. In the last year she had Louie as a friend. We didn't see the signs she was fading until very late - because she was always in good spirit and happy. We will miss Cokie greatly.

It's almost a week since Lucy left us. She was a great guinea pig.

If you ruffled the fur on her back Cokie looked like a buffalo. She could look annoyed when you did this, but she was annoyed as a buffalo.

Cokie was both charming and intrepid. Her sister Lucy was a diva. Cokie never acted like a diva, but she was a star.
