Mik Maq

Boy this is difficult. For those who don't know what happened, we lost Mik on Sunday, Sept. 09, 2007. I woke up that morning to find his hind quarters paralyzed. The vet suspects a clot but was unable to confirm, euthanasia was the most compassionate decision.

A lot of my friends and family knew Mik. Here is a little more information. He was born in New Hampshire on March 20, 2004 and became a member of our family when we adopted him in August of 2005. I'll never forget the first day we met. He had gotten out and was playing in the fields for hours during the hot August sun. Needless to say he was burned and not a happy camper. He growled and scowled at us and I thought he would be just like that hairless cat from the show Friends. We almost didn't take him, but once we got into the car he purred and cuddled and kissed us the whole car ride home. He never stopped after that.

Here is a quick day with Mik. His purr was like a motor boat. He loved to cuddle and was little love bunny, so I would wake up with him curled into a ball under the covers or sitting on my chest or head. He loved people and attention and was your second shadow helping you around the house or just getting in the way. When he wasn't knocking over water glasses or stealing your yogurt, he was talking to you. Boy could he talk. His face was so expressive and he wore his emotions well. Anyone who spent even a couple of hours with knows he was no ordinary cat.

	Mik was the most uncatlike cat I've ever been around. His friendly gentle ways made him easily lovable, even I had a hard time not liking "that #@$%ing cat". He was such a good companion to Heater and Kathy and for that I love him and miss him.

	Mik, I just met you three weeks ago... but you certainly made an impact on me in just the short time I knew you. You certainly made me rethink my ideas on your breed! Sweet baby... be your sister's guardian angel now.

	I rememeber the first day that we met you! At first we didn't know what to think. I have to say you were one of a kind! Everytime we came to visit as soon as you walked into the house you were their to jump on us and sit on our shoulders everytime. I remember the first time Joey meet Mik he was sitting on the couch and Mik jumped on him and Joey said what the #$%$# is that and keep running away from him. Their was so many times that your cousins Shadow and Dax came over to play and you all would play for hours. Shadow would never get tired neither did you but poor Dax could never keep up with the two of you. Still to this day Shadow and Dax keep going down the street and we find them sitting on the porch waiting to be let in! We will miss your energy and your cute little face. Love Sharon and Bob

	They say that the shortest candle burns the brightest and I guess that's really true about Mik. He was a little wrinkled person dressed up like a cat. I have so many lovely memories of Mik. Some stand out more than others. Some day I'll write a short story about my trip to LA with Mik. Or maybe I'll tell you about the baby wipes and how as soon as he saw them he'd run like hell in the other direction. I squeezed that poor cat to death more times than I can count because he was just so darn lovable. I've always considered myself a "dog person" but Mik made me a "cat lover" too. My heart aches that he's gone and the only consolation is that he isn't suffering. Goodbye and God Bless Mik!

	We are so sorry for your unexpected loss. Our kids often talk about the bald cat ... For us .. it puts a smile on our face to think about Nana's face when she first saw her ... like a Kodak momement.

	Mik, I'm so glad you were able to take your picture with Dad on Friday and be part of my "bald" family Photo Album. I know your in heaven now, so when you are sitting on God's shoulder make you whisper in his ear and tell hime that I'm not ready to join you guys yet....I still have a lot to accomplish here! 	I only met Mic Mac once but she was a very nice cat. Obviously she was much more different than most cats but also much more a friend than most cats too.
