Dear Murphy,
You came to me in 1998, when someone threw you out of a moving car.
I was still sad about my Shadow who passed away many, many years ago. I didn't really want another dog in my life but you were a sad, sad boy and you were so ill. I couldn't help but fall in love with you straight away. It took a long time for me to get you back into shape and healthy again. It took even longer to make you trust in the people around you and realise that you were in a safe place.
We had such a wonderful time...walking, playing, exploring. Curling up on the couch together on wet weekends. Hugs and cuddles and laughter and tears. Your love was unconditional as was mine.
In December 2004 you got very ill again. You were diagnosed with diabetes and did you ever go through the mill, you poor baby! But with a lot of help from the vets, our friends at petswithdiabetes, and all of our family and friends, we learned about the disease and got you stable. After that, you were a happy and healthy dog again and the fun and love continued.
You got ill again just a few weeks ago, arthritis set in and you couldn't enjoy your walks anymore. The meds were hard on you poor boy, and in the end, your kidneys had enough.
My only regret is that you were not here for a long enough time.
I will always miss you best boy, and I love you very, very much. I hope that Shadow met you at the Rainbow Bridge and that you boys are having a wonderful time chasing deer and rabbits. I love you Murphy, I love you Shadow. Be good boys, have fun and I'll see you again when it's time. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
