Patches

Patches was brought into our lives when just a few weeks old. Although small enough to fit in one hand and the runt of the litter, he had such a big personality. When I went off to college, I took my little Shih-Tzu with me to Pensacola, Miami, and ultimately Phoenix. Patches was a healthy, active dog even until the last few months of his life. People would always remark that he did not seem 15 years old. It was just Patches and I until I brought my new Turchiano family in the fold. Splitting my attentions was hard on Patches and I, but Patches was always going to be my first baby. His decline was rapid and sudden and we made the terrible decision to put him down. I am blessed to have been able to hold and kiss him during his final heartbeats. Patches, you enriched my life so much and I miss you terribly. I wish I could have you forever, little puppy. I love you.

Daddy and I have been thinking about you in the last few hours. We are so sorry for your loss. Patches is now in doggy heaven, with Buster and Bonnie Blue chasing everything in site, especially butterflies. We love you baby, I hope the kids are doing ok.

Patches was such a good dog, I remember how we used to argue all the time because I used to tell him that he had the kind of face that only a mother could love.

16 years is amazing though. Just think of all the good and snuggly times together.
