Pixie and her sister Pumpkin came into my life in 1995 in a school I was teaching in.One of the children in the infant classes had brought them in for show and tell.It was love at first sight!Pixie was the most adorable tortoiseshell with beautiful markings on her face - she looked as if she was wearing a wee mask!
Pixie was very much a one person cat, and I was blessed to be that person. When she was 4 years old she disappeared for a few days. I was frantic with worry.I searched the neighbourhood but couldn't find her. Then late at night I opened the back door to check for her again when she ran in! She was grubby and very hungry but thank God, unhurt. It was like she had come back from the dead!
Pixie was a very chatty wee cat and would purr whenever I touched her.
Just at the beginning of the summer this year, I noticed that that Pixie just wasn't herself. We took many visits to the vet and Pixie had her blood and thyroid checked and also had a lumpectomy. Nothing helped her. Then in September the vet discovered a massive tumour growing beside her heart. It was pressing on her lungs and nothing could be done.I didn't want her to suffer any more so the vet released her from her pain. She died in my arms wrapped in a pink blanket.
My darling girl, I willl love you always, I will miss you always.Your paw prints are all over my heart.
