I met Sammi my senior year of college. The day I saw her for the first time is the day I knew I'd love that little furball forever. Some guys decided it would be fun to have an "apartment mascot" until they realized that they actually had to care for the little girl. I immediately scooped her up and took her home.
Sammi was precocious baby who would eat cereal right out of your bowl (whether or not you were done eating) and had an affection for potato chips (head in bag of course.) She liked when I gently kissed her ears, but was never too fond my singing. In fact, on many occassions, she get in my face just to make me stop. My biggest critic, maybe, but also my biggest fan.
In June of 2005, I found a little lump on Bubu's neck and in July, she was diagnosed with Adeno-carncinoma. I took her to one of the best Veterinary Oncology clinics on the East Coast, Veterinary Oncology Services & Research Clinic in West Chester, PA. The amazing doctors threw everything they could at that cancer, but we just couldn't stop it. The tumor continued to grow.
After a year and a half of chemo and pills and x-rays and needles, the cancer just kept winning. My once 12lb tough little girl was a 6lb tired shadow of her former self. I knew it was time to let her go. On Saturday, December 9th, I kissed her little ears one last time and said good-bye.
Bubu, I will love and miss you always. You will always be Mommy's Little Girl.
