coco vecchio
My beloved coco passed away aug. 25, 2005 at 16 years old. He was a black lab mix, my daughter received him as a gift when he was 6 weeks old. I remember when we got him he could barely walk. Over the next 16 years coco protected our home & our lives, gave my daughter & I alot of love. Coco suffered a stroke at 14, we nursed him back to health, after many sleepless nights & touch-in go days. He mained w/me two more great years. His head was tilted from his stroke, and he started losing his sight at 7 years old, but he could walk 3 miles aday. He loved to go for walks. One sad day he couldn't get up & walk any longer & his breathing was shallow. I rushed him to the animal hospital were he stayed over night, I was told he might not make it throught the night. He made it, but when I returned to pick him up, I was advised he was having seizures & his breathing was not good. He still knew me !!!!!! I looked at him in the cage w/the IV's & my heart just BROKE!!! He couldn't walk any longer & his breathing was so shallow. Finally I removed him from the animal hospital & took him to his long time vet. & I had to make the most painful decision in my life. I wanted to take him home!!!!! I knew in my heart he wouldn't survive at home one more day!!! I would do anything for him he was my son. I could deal w/him not walking, we would carry him outside like we did many times before when he had is stroke. But I knew w/his breathing not good he was suffering. I lost my best friend that day. I love you coco, & we'll be together soon!!! nan You & me!!!!!! all my love karen
